Amy Goodman American broadcast journalist, syndicated columnist, investigative reporter and author. She is the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, a national, daily, independent, grassroots global news program airing on over 1,200 public television and radio stations and the Internet worldwide, bringing alternative voices that are often excluded by mainstream media. She also writes a weekly column (and audio podcast).

She is the recipient of the Thomas Merton Award in 2004, a Right Livelihood Award in 2008, and an Izzy Award in 2009 for "special achievement in independent media". In 2012, Goodman received the Gandhi Peace Award for a "significant contribution to the promotion of an enduring international peace". In 2007, she received the James Aronson Award for Social Justice Reporting. Goodman has received the American Women in Radio and Television Gracie Award; the Paley Center for Media’s She’s Made It Award; and the Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship, George Polk Award, Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Reporting, and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award.

Goodman is the author of five books, including the 2012 The Silenced Majority: Stories of Uprisings, Occupations, Resistance, and Hope, Breaking the Sound Barrier (2009), Standing Up to the Madness: Ordinary Heroes in Extraordinary Times (2008), Static: Government Liars, Media Cheerleaders, and the People Who Fight Back (2006) and The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them (2004).

Description: Join WIN and the Women's Media Center for an opportunity to find out the inside scoop about jobs at women's issue organizations. 

This panel will explore different career paths at some of the most prominent feminist organizations: what is the daily work like, what kind of skills do the people holding these jobs have, and what aspects of their work do they enjoy (or not enjoy). If you’ve been interested in working at a women’s organization, this is a chance to ask questions and find out if this is the right path for you.
