Join Network For Progress, a grassroots movement-building community to connect with Progressives, Democrats, Hope Mongers and Change Makers, for a mixer and watch party for the 1st & Final? weeknight Democratic debate before the Iowa Caucus with beer/wine and pizza sponsored by General Assembly.

The theme of our event is that “Yes YOU Can” grab the torch to help create the next generation of 21st Century Movement-building as our program will focus on educating ourselves on how our party, campaigns and related organizations are moving us forward in the post-Obama era.

This includes evaluating and utilizing progressive and democratic strategies that are both continually more innovative and inclusive with the help of modern tools and the next my.barackobama.com that can help us work together to create a Majority Mandate for progressive and democratic values in 2016 and beyond.

And what better place to discuss a more “Open Politics” than at the Open Gov Hub (video tour), home of many great civic organizations like the National Democratic Institute, which has several big TVs in a presentation room and a great meeting/kitchen areas.

If you want to meet new people we will make it easier with name tags and Networking Potluck buckets so you can feel comfortable to introduce yourself to attendees with similar interests.

50% of the proceeds will benefit the charity of YOUR choice...as voted on by the majority of attendees!

Contact Jim @ network4progress@gmail.com if you would like to nominate a cause join as a Co-Host or Partner Organization as well as submit questions/comments.

There is not many people out there better to remind us that the “Revolution Will Not Be Televised!” as Joe will explain how both the Clinton AND Sanders campaigns have yet to maximize their potential by innovating new ways to engage current and potential supporters.

Joe will share with us some background about his career in politics, including what he learned from the 2004 Democratic Primary race and how we can still apply those lessons in 2016. Then he will take your questions.

After the program, Jim will share his insights and we invite you to share your own “Progress Highlights” as we welcome community announcements about relevant events, opportunities and actions. We will also offer a round of introductions and our NEW “Networking Potluck” buckets to find people with common interests!

Please join Network For Progress, a social and media-savvy community inspired by the "Yes We Can" Movement to engage Progressives, Democrats, Hope Mongers and Change Makers in political and civic participation, for a St. Patty’s Day-themed monthly happy hour to network and socialize at the new Gryphon @ Dupont-South!

Even though there is a huge Ready For Hillary event the same night in the interest of re-starting our 1st Thursday events we will use this as a casual opportunity to offer shelter for the huddled masses of Obama supporters in denial that he will be replace, supporters of Warren and alternative candidates, folks who are too apathetic to care about a primary election almost a year away….not to mention Hillary supporters who might not want to donate to a Super PAC.

To help people connect we will introduce a Networking Wall with everyone’s name, favorite candidate and industry of interest.

With fantastic local causes on hand, play with the tech and see just how easy it is to #donate.

Most importantly root us on in front of family and media!

  • 6:30pm Tuesday, 9/23
  • Hierarchy, 1847 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, District of Columbia 20009

Join us for a conversation about the intersection of street art and social change. See how artists, storytellers and designers can use their creativity to bring communities together; revitalize urban spaces; support social and environmental causes; and encourage dialogue about social issues. RSVP (it's FREE!) on Eventbrite: http://mediarise2014-streetart.eventbrite.com/

Street artists can be powerful change agents when collaborating with government, business and community allies. By re-imagining public space, they can bypass entrenched political institutions and traditional channels of civic engagement to connect directly with individuals to change not only the aesthetics of a given place but also the entire narrative of that community. By using their street art sensibility for commercial products, they can shift the perspective of consumers and brands toward socially or environmentally responsible purchase decisions. And by using their art in experiential exhibitions, they can spark dialogue in communities that otherwise might not share their voice.

Meet the Artists:
Gregg Deal
Kelly Towles
Rose Jaffe
Peter Franklin Chang (moderator)

// SPECIAL CALL TO ACTION:

Are you a street artist looking for wall space to paint a mural? Are you a property owner looking for an artist to transform your wall into a piece of art? Connect with each other using the TableTribes app at our event!

This event is free and open to the public.

// Organizing Partners:

TableTribes is an information-sharing platform that was created to connect in more effective and meaningful ways with the people around us. We focus on the fundamental desire for real day-to-day connectivity by facilitating online to offline conversations over food and drink. Our broader mission is to spark a change in how we relate to each other and the world at large.

// Host:

The 2014 Media Rise Festival is a weeklong series of events in Washington, D.C. that celebrates the power of storytelling, art and design to make the world a better place. The festival kicks off on Monday, September 22 with a series of nightly Networking Lounges, plus Unplugged Spaces and user-submitted Community Events throughout the week. And Signature Events are scheduled through the weekend, including a pitch night, party, 48-hour video challenge, daylong discussion forum, brunch and youth festival.
